The announcement was made in a statement on Tuesday, signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Tersoo Kula, and shared with newsmen in Makurdi. Prior to this appointment, Dr Francis served as the Director General of the Bureau for Education Quality Assurance.
The creation of the board follows a recent law passed by the Benue State House of Assembly, which merged the former Bureau for Education Quality Assurance and the now-defunct Benue State Examinations Board.
Governor Alia described the merger as a strategic step to enhance education quality and assessment standards in the state.
“This strategic merger underscores our administration’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the education sector,” Alia said. “It is aimed at ensuring that the Benue child receives holistic, high-quality, and competitive education that prepares them to excel anywhere in the world.”
The governor charged Dr Francis to leverage his experience, integrity, and innovative approach in repositioning the state’s educational assessment and quality assurance framework.
