APC Explains Why Tinubu May Win Over 10 Million Votes in 2027

APC says President Bola Tinubu could secure over 10 million votes in 2027, citing party strength and federal intervention programmes

The All Progressives Congress, All Progressives Congress, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu could secure more than 10 million votes in the 2027 presidential election, citing expanded party structure and federal intervention programmes.

APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda made the assertion on Monday during an interview, shortly after President Bola Tinubu emerged as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

Tinubu had earlier secured the party’s ticket with 10.9 million votes during the APC presidential primary, a figure the party now believes could be replicated or exceeded in the general election.

Yilwatda said the ruling party’s confidence was anchored not only on its membership strength but also on the growing number of Nigerians benefiting from government programmes.

He specifically referenced the student loan scheme, stating that beneficiaries and their families represent a significant support base for the party ahead of the polls.

According to him, about 1.5 million students are currently benefiting from the scheme, alongside their parents, siblings and wider family networks.

“In my own thinking, most students are members of our party,” Yilwatda said, adding that the impact of government programmes would translate into electoral support.

He argued that the APC would enter the 2027 elections with a stronger organisational structure, wider grassroots reach and more visible policy achievements compared to the 2023 polls.

In the 2023 presidential election, Tinubu secured over eight million votes, while Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi each polled more than six million votes.

However, the APC chairman insisted that the party is now better positioned to improve on its previous performance due to expanded mobilisation and governance outcomes.

He added that the party’s internal figures from the presidential primary demonstrate its organisational strength ahead of the next general election.

Yilwatda further stated that the APC would continue to rely on its grassroots network and policy-driven achievements to secure victory for Tinubu in 2027.
