Atiku Abubakar wins the ADC presidential primary in Zamfara State after polling 60,500 votes in the party’s ward-based election
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has emerged victorious in the African Democratic Congress presidential primary election conducted in Zamfara State.

The result was announced on Monday by the chairman and returning officer of the ADC presidential primary election committee, Muhammad Musa, at the state collation centre located at the Command Guests House in Gusau.
According to Musa, the exercise was conducted across the 147 political wards spread across the 14 local government areas of the state.
He disclosed that the party recorded 63,404 registered members in Zamfara State, while a total of 61,137 votes were cast during the primary election.
Atiku secured a commanding 60,500 votes to finish ahead of former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, who polled 191 votes.
Another aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, received 446 votes in the contest.
Musa stated that the primary election was conducted in accordance with the party’s guidelines and that the results reflected the votes collated from across the state.
“The process was conducted in line with the party guidelines and the outcome was declared based on the total number of votes collated,” he said.
The returning officer congratulated all participants and called on party members to remain united as preparations intensify for the 2027 general election.

The outcome strengthens Atiku’s position within the party’s ongoing presidential selection process as political activities continue to gather momentum across the country.
