Justice Mashkur Salisu ordered the adjournment following the reported failure of the defendants to file and serve their statements of defence in the matter.
The case was instituted by APC chairmanship aspirant Abdulhadi Lau, who is seeking the nullification of the party’s primary election over alleged irregularities and exclusion from the process.
Lau contends that he purchased nomination forms, met all eligibility requirements, and was duly qualified to contest but was denied participation without justification.
He argues that his exclusion violates his constitutional rights and undermines internal democracy within the APC, calling on the court to invalidate the exercise.
Through his legal representatives, the claimant urged the judiciary to intervene and prevent what he described as a dangerous precedent that could weaken democratic practices within political parties.
He further maintained that excluding qualified aspirants from primaries threatens fairness and erodes confidence in the electoral system.
During Monday’s sitting, counsel informed the court that the defendants had not yet filed their responses, prompting Justice Salisu to fix a definite hearing date for July 1, 2026.

The court is expected to hear full arguments from all parties as the legal dispute over the APC Taraba chairmanship primary election continues.
