APC Denies Screening Report on Fubara Controversy

APC says no screening report has been released yet on Siminalayi Fubara, stressing the process is still ongoing

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Ajibola Bashiru, has stated that no official report has yet been issued by the party’s screening committee amid growing questions over the screening status of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Bashiru clarified that participation in the screening exercise is only one part of an ongoing process, and that the committee will only release its findings after concluding hearings for all relevant aspirants.

APC screening report on Fubara issue has generated political attention, particularly within Rivers State, where internal party dynamics continue to draw scrutiny.

“I don’t know what you mean by screening. It appears that anybody that appears before the APC screening committee, of course, it is necessary as part of the process,” Bashiru said.

He further explained that the committee will compile and present its official report only after completing all scheduled interviews and evaluations.

“After appearing before the screening committee, the screening committee will issue its report. As at now, when it has seen everyone it is supposed to see, we will now sit down and come up with the report of the screening committee,” he added.

Bashiru emphasised that it would be premature to draw conclusions about any candidate’s status, stressing that the process remains incomplete.

“As at now, there is no report of screening,” he stated firmly.
