APC Strengthens Data-Driven Strategy via Progressive Institute

APC bolsters its data-driven strategy with The Progressive Institute, enhancing research, opinion polling, and evidence-based decision-making.

The All Progressives Congress intensified its efforts to strengthen data-driven decision-making and strategic planning on Tuesday, with National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda positioning The Progressive Institute as the party’s central hub for research and policy development.

Yilwatda toured the Abuja facility of TPI, reaffirming the party’s commitment to institutional stability, intellectual rigour, and evidence-based policymaking. Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media, Abimbola Tooki, he outlined plans to deepen support for the Institute, particularly in opinion polling, policy research, and strategic decision-making to guide the party ahead of elections.

“We need credible opinion polls and rigorous research to guide our strategic choices,” Yilwatda said. “I expect the Institute to be of immense assistance to the party in this regard.”

He added that TPI would be central to strengthening internal democratic processes and fostering structured relationships with academia, civil society, development partners, and the private sector.

The APC chairman also highlighted capacity development initiatives, pledging nationwide participation in TPI-led training programmes and exploring options for a permanent, internationally accessible campus.

Ongoing discussions with the European Union on research and conflict management partnerships were noted as critical to enhancing the Institute’s global outlook.

Director-General of TPI, Dr Lanre Adebayo, described the Institute as the party’s think tank and resource centre, designed to stabilise political decision-making in a high-pressure environment.

Over the past year, TPI has conducted extensive training and capacity-building programmes across Nigeria and Europe, engaging over 5,000 stakeholders, including electoral officers, party directors, and government officials.

Adebayo added that TPI remained committed to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.

While the Institute is designed to be self-funding, he stressed the importance of a sustainable financial framework to maintain independence while continuously contributing to the party’s success.
