Anambra PDP crisis warning issued by elders council cautioning NWC against dissolving elected state executives ahead of 2025 governorship polls
Anambra PDP crisis warning was issued on Friday as the Anambra State PDP Elders Council strongly cautioned the National Working Committee (NWC) against any plan to dissolve the duly elected state executives.

The meeting, held at the residence of elder statesman Senator Ben Ndi Obi, reaffirmed that no lawsuit has been filed against the executives and that their election during the state congress late last year remains undisputed.
In a communiqué signed by Chief Felix Oli and Dr. Odili Ojukwu, the council praised the performance of the state executive, stressing that it has fostered relative peace, inclusiveness, and active stakeholder engagement.
“The current Anambra State PDP Executive is performing admirably. There is relative peace within the party, and all stakeholders are being actively engaged,” the statement read.
The council condemned what it described as “falsehoods” being propagated against the executives, warning that any attempt to dissolve the structure would amount to destabilization and could harm the credibility of both the November 2025 Anambra governorship election and the PDP National Convention.
The communiqué added:
* No injustice has been meted out to party members.
* The executive maintains a strong relationship with the NWC.
* Rumors of lawsuits against the executive are entirely false.
Prominent members of the council, including former Minister of Women Affairs Mrs. Josephine Anenih and a presidential aide, backed the statement.
They stressed that the NWC, under Ambassador Iliya Damagun, had already achieved a milestone by conducting what they called “the most transparent and successful congress in Anambra PDP’s history.”
The elders urged the NWC and PDP Governors’ Forum to resist manipulation, warning that regression would undo the stability achieved so far.
