PAWA on Palestine Crisis Urges Urgent End to Suffering

PAWA calls for end to Palestine crisis, joining UN and AU in urging urgent action as child deaths rise from hunger and malnutrition

The association’s statement was delivered by Secretary General, Dr. Wale Okediran, at a press conference hosted on August 28, 2025, by Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, HE Abdulfatah Ahmed Khalil Alasattari, at the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Accra.

Dr. Okediran echoed deep concern over the worsening blockade, citing UNICEF and WHO reports that more than 50 children have already died from hunger in the last eleven weeks.

He warned that if humanitarian access is not restored, thousands more are at risk: “Up to 71,000 children under five could suffer from acute malnutrition over the next year.”

Ambassador Alasattari, speaking earlier at the event, stressed that the only pathway to peace is Israel’s full compliance with the 1967 UN Security Council resolution, which calls for the withdrawal from all occupied territories to enable peaceful coexistence.
