The ADC says it no longer trusts ADC INEC votes to be protected in 2027 and will collate its own polling unit figures after the 2023 IReV failure
The African Democratic Congress says it does not trust the Independent National Electoral Commission to protect ADC INEC votes in the 2027 general elections, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, told Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, 21 September 2026.

Bolaji Abdullahi said the party was already preparing to collate its own figures and would not again rely on promises of automatic result transmission.
He spoke from direct experience. He ran for the Senate in 2023 and, like other candidates, accepted INEC’s assurance that results would go straight from polling units to the INEC Result Viewing Portal, known as IReV.
“Don’t forget that I ran for Senate in the 2023 election. What many of us did, and not only myself, was that we trusted INEC when they told us there would be automatic transmission of results to the IReV,” he said.
What followed, he said, was a technical explanation that left that promise unfulfilled.
“Then what happened afterwards? They said that, due to some technical glitch, the results could not be transmitted automatically to the IReV. So we have been beaten by that, and we are now twice shy. We say we will not allow it to happen again. We are no longer naive.”
The party’s position is now explicit. It will watch the process itself.
“We can no longer trust INEC to protect our votes for us. We are saying that we will vigilantly guard our own votes. We will protect our own votes.”
Bolaji Abdullahi did not say the ADC would reject every official declaration. He set a test. If the final figures match what came from the polling units, the party will accept them. If they do not, it will not.
“If the results at the end of the day reflect the true votes that came from the polling units, we will accept them. But if they do not, we are not going to accept them. We are making provisions to collate our own votes.”
INEC has not, in the immediate reporting of the interview, issued a fresh reply to that warning.
In 2023 the commission blamed a technical failure for the delayed upload of presidential results to IReV, a breakdown that became one of the sharpest arguments of that election cycle.
The ADC’s message is that 2027 will not be met with the same patience.

The party intends to keep its own tally and to treat any gap between that tally and the official result as a line it will not cross.
