ADC Primary Crisis Allegation emerges as party spokesman praises competitiveness while Hayatu-Deen raises concerns over malpractice and pressure
The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has praised the conduct of the party’s ongoing presidential primary election, describing it as one of the most competitive he has ever witnessed.

Speaking on Tuesday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Abdullahi said the ADC stands out as a political party not controlled by a single individual.
He maintained that the exercise demonstrated internal democracy, noting that participation across thousands of wards reflected strong engagement by party members nationwide.
According to him, the level of competition within the ADC makes it difficult to predict the outcome of the primary.
“The ADC is the only party today that is not controlled by an individual,” he said. “We have three top-class candidates who are eminently qualified.”
Abdullahi added that even he could not confidently predict the outcome in key states, including his home state of Kwara, due to the intensity of the contest.
Meanwhile, 2027 presidential aspirant Mohammed Hayatu-Deen raised concerns over alleged irregularities in parts of the ongoing ADC primary election.
Hayatu-Deen, speaking after voting in Borno State, claimed he had received reports of alleged malpractice and undue pressure on candidates to withdraw from the race.
He also alleged that some party members attempted to mislead supporters in certain areas by falsely claiming he had stepped down.
The aspirant insisted that the election process must remain free, fair and transparent, warning that any form of manipulation could damage the party’s credibility ahead of the 2027 general elections.
However, he noted that the exercise in his ward was peaceful and orderly, with voters turning out in large numbers.
Hayatu-Deen further alleged irregularities in parts of Southern Borno, claiming that result collation was not conducted transparently in some areas.
