Rotimi Amaechi wins ADC presidential primary in Bayelsa State with 44,404 votes, defeating Atiku Abubakar and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen
Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has emerged winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary in Bayelsa State, defeating former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.

The result was contained in a statement shared by the African Democratic Congress on its official X handle, confirming Amaechi’s decisive win in the state exercise.
According to the party, Amaechi polled a total of 44,404 votes to clinch victory in the Bayelsa State presidential primary.
Atiku Abubakar came second with 6,570 votes, while Mohammed Hayatu-Deen scored 939 votes in the contest.
The ADC noted that the Bayelsa exercise forms part of the ongoing nationwide presidential primaries, where delegates across states are voting to determine the party’s candidate for the 2027 general election.
The party is yet to announce final collated national results as the exercise continues across multiple states.
However, early figures from the ongoing primaries suggest a competitive race among leading aspirants as results gradually emerge from different parts of the country.
