Political crisis in ADC Jigawa chapter escalated after the breakaway group announced the expulsion of several prominent members, deepening divisions within the party’s state structure.
The faction, led by Kabiru Husseini Na Rungo, claimed legitimacy based on a Federal High Court judgement in Abuja, which it said validated its authority to organise the congresses.
Addressing journalists after the exercise, Na Rungo said the congresses were conducted in line with a ruling delivered by Justice Joyce O. Abdulmalik, which allegedly nullified a previous national convention of the party.
He argued that the judgement affirmed the authority of recognised state chairmen to conduct legitimate party congresses within their respective states.
Na Rungo insisted that the faction operated independently of the David Mark and Nafiu Bala camps, describing it as the authentic leadership structure of the ADC in Jigawa State.
“Today marks a new chapter in the democratic journey of our party in Jigawa,” he said, adding that the congresses were conducted in a transparent and lawful manner.
The faction also reaffirmed the expulsion of Mohammed Sani Gumel, accusing him of alleged misconduct, including the sale of party mandates.
“ADC is not for sale in Jigawa State, and we shall never allow the selfish interests of individuals to override the collective interest of our members and supporters,” Na Rungo stated.
Other expelled members include Hon. Adamu Jumbo, Sen. Sabo Nakudu and Abba Anas Adamu, among others.
The faction warned that individuals refusing to align with its leadership structure would be treated as expelled under the party’s constitution.
At the end of the congress, Kabiru Hassan emerged as state chairman, while Ahmad Sankara Gerawa was elected deputy chairman. Other key positions were also filled.
