Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed joins APM in bold political defection move

Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed has joined the Allied Peoples Movement, citing political realignment and obtaining a senatorial nomination form under APM

The meeting, presided over by APM National Chairman Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, brought together key party stakeholders and senior leadership members to review internal structures and political direction.

Speaking at the session, Governor Bala Mohammed said Nigeria’s current political environment has become increasingly marked by undemocratic practices and intimidation, which he argued has made genuine political participation more difficult for progressive actors.

He explained that his decision to join the Allied Peoples Movement followed wide consultations with political associates, stakeholders and supporters across the country, adding that the party reflects his values on governance and inclusiveness.

According to him, the APM aligns with his political philosophy, particularly on internal democracy, justice, respect for the rule of law and accountable leadership.

The governor further stated that a number of political office holders and stakeholders who previously operated within the Peoples Democratic Party structure in Bauchi State have also moved with him into the new platform.

He listed members of the National Assembly, Bauchi State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, commissioners, ward executives and grassroots supporters as part of the growing support base within the party.
