Obasa urges compassion, charity as Muslims mark Eid al-Adha

Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Obasa urges residents to embrace compassion, charity and unity in his Eid al-Adha message

Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Mudashiru Obasa, has called for compassion and charity toward the less fortunate as Muslims prepare to mark the Eid al-Adha festival.

In a message released through his Chief Press Secretary, Dave Agboola, Dr Obasa emphasised the importance of helping the needy, noting that Eid al-Adha symbolises sacrifice, obedience, and compassion.

“As we celebrate this significant occasion,” he said, “let us remember those who are less fortunate. Compassion should be at the core of our hearts, motivating us to support the needy among us.”

He urged Muslims and residents of Lagos to show kindness by donating food and essentials, stressing that charity plays a key role in building an inclusive society.

Compassion should be at the core of our hearts, motivating us to support the needy among us.

“I encourage everyone to open their hearts and contribute to the welfare of others. It is through our collective efforts that we can alleviate suffering,” Obasa said.

The Speaker also reminded the public to embody the spirit of sacrifice year-round, not only during religious festivities. He said sharing and caring promote social harmony and a sense of belonging.

Reflecting on the values of unity and togetherness that define Eid, Dr Obasa urged Nigerians to embrace diversity and deepen bonds as a community.

“Eid al-Adha teaches us the power of togetherness. Let us embrace our diversity and strengthen our bonds as a community, ensuring that no one is left behind,” he added.
