The governor made the remarks while receiving a delegation of praise singers known as Mawallafan Abba Gida Gida, using the platform to reflect on the political circumstances surrounding his former deputy’s resignation.

Abdussalam, also known as Gwarzo, stepped down from office amid an impeachment process initiated by the Kano State House of Assembly, which was subsequently discontinued following his exit from government.

Governor Yusuf claimed he had not personally seen or received Abdussalam’s resignation letter, insisting that there was no wrongdoing within his administration that could have prompted such a decision.

“Today, the deputy governor who was elected alongside us is no longer part of this government. No one wronged him.

In fact, I have not even come across his resignation letter, so why should I be concerned about it?” Yusuf said.

He further alleged that the resignation was linked to an internal political ambition, suggesting that his former deputy may have been positioned to take over the office of governor.

The Abba Yusuf deputy resignation dispute formed the centre of his remarks as he described the situation as politically motivated but ultimately unsuccessful.

“Whatever pushed him to act in that manner was an effort to depose me and occupy the seat, but God did not permit it,” the governor added.

Yusuf also raised questions about internal political dynamics within the Kwankwasiyya Movement, expressing concern over what he described as perceived inconsistencies in political opportunity and loyalty.

He suggested that Abdussalam’s exit reflected deeper tensions within the political structure, while maintaining that his administration remained stable and focused on governance.
