The disciplinary actions were approved by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) under the Ministry of Interior. Babawale Afolabi, Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, said a total of 76 senior and junior personnel faced various sanctions for acts unbecoming of officers in the outgoing year.
Twenty junior officers were dismissed, three personnel demoted by one rank, and seven others issued warning letters.
Additionally, two senior officers were demoted by two ranks, another officer by one rank, and five others received warning letters.
Afolabi said the disciplinary measures followed recommendations by the Senior and Junior Staff Disciplinary Committees of the Corps.
The junior staff actions involved offences such as job racketeering, extortion, aiding illegal petroleum dealings, gun running, absenteeism, and other breaches of NSCDC Standard Operating Procedures and the Public Service Rules.
The NSCDC Commandant-General, Prof. Ahmed Audi, reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to training and re-training operatives and vowed not to tolerate acts that could tarnish the image of the service.
