Each beneficiary received N200,000 during the event held at the Eket Local Government Area secretariat on Tuesday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senator Sampson said, “When you show support for the education sector, you are showing support for progress because without education we are in danger.

Within one year in office, we were here at this venue for the first tranche of support to students. Today, we are here on a bigger scale, empowering 500 students with N100 million.”

The senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals, stressed his commitment to education, rejecting advice from some quarters to focus on short-term popularity initiatives such as distributing tricycles.

“I look into the future to protect and secure the future of the people,” he added, emphasising that education remains his priority.

Senator Sampson highlighted his legislative efforts, including sponsoring bills for the establishment of the Federal University of Technology, Ikot-Abasi, and the Federal University of Medical Sciences, as well as advocating for the Federal University of Maritime Studies.

He underscored the importance of aligning educational empowerment with long-term development goals.
