Soludo presents N757bn 2026 budget to Anambra Assembly

Governor Chukwuma Soludo presents N757bn 2026 budget to Anambra Assembly, focusing on capital expenditure and transformative projects.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, in Awka on 26 November 2025, presented a N757 billion 2026 budget to the state House of Assembly, marking a 24.1 per cent increase over the 2025 budget of N607 billion.

The budget, titled Changing Gears 3.0: Solution Continues, prioritises capital projects as part of the administration’s ongoing transformative agenda.

Governor Soludo said N595.3 billion, or 79 per cent of the budget, is earmarked for capital expenditure, while N161.6 billion, representing 21 per cent, is allocated to recurrent expenditure.

He noted that the budget has a projected deficit of N225.7 billion, which is expected to be financed through hybrid funding mechanisms, public–private partnerships, enhanced internally generated revenue, concessions, and support from financial institutions.

“I present to you the proposed 2026 budget, totalling N757,884,487,705. Compared to the 2025 budget of N606.99 billion, this represents a 24.1 per cent increase,” Governor Soludo said.

“We recorded over 60 per cent budget performance in 2025. Despite it being an election year, we remained focused and in execution mode.”

The governor emphasised that the 2026 budget framework is designed to stimulate growth across all sectors while maintaining fiscal responsibility, with no borrowing for consumption.

“Every kobo will be prudently utilised to maximise value for the people of Anambra, laying the foundation for a prosperous, liveable and smart homeland,” he added.

Receiving the budget, Speaker of the House Somtochukwu Udeze commended Governor Soludo for the massive transformation projects underway across the state and assured that the draft budget would receive swift and thorough consideration.
