Usani Uguru Usani suspension sparks internal tension as ADC Cross River faults anti-party actions and urges leadership overhaul.
Usani Uguru Usani suspension has sparked internal unease within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following what party officials describe as actions that could jeopardise unity and derail progress in the South-South region.

The National Vice Chairman (South-South), Dr Usani Uguru Usani, was suspended with immediate effect after the Cross River State Working Committee (SWC) convened a critical meeting on Wednesday, 15 October 2025.
The decision was made public in a formal statement released in Abuja by state publicity secretary, James Otudor.
According to Otudor, Usani’s behaviour was deemed to contravene the ADC constitution and the values the party holds dear.
Petitions presented to the committee cited alleged insubordination, anti-party activities, and conduct damaging to the party’s public image and electoral strength.
“In accordance with the party’s constitution and disciplinary procedures, Dr Usani’s suspension will remain in effect pending the outcome of a formal investigation by the relevant party organs,” Otudor clarified.
In the same statement, the SWC criticised the recent appointment of Ms Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary.
The state chapter claimed the move was made without adequate consultation, and raised concerns over Wayas’ minimal engagement and questionable loyalty to the ADC’s unity in the South-South zone.
Otudor urged national leadership to reconsider Wayas’ position and instead nominate a more media-savvy and credible figure from Cross River State — someone demonstrably committed to the party’s ideals.
The committee also expressed displeasure over the actions of certain members of the Coalition Movement, accusing some of using the ADC platform without completing official registration procedures.
It issued a firm warning: complete ward-level registration within seven days or face exclusion from future leadership and decision-making processes.
Despite the internal turbulence, the Cross River ADC reaffirmed its loyalty to the national body, vowing to remain focused on credible leadership and delivering a viable political alternative for the people of Cross River and the South-South.
