PDP National Convention 2025 preparations are gathering momentum as governors elected on the party’s platform have pledged to deliver a transparent, inclusive, and disciplined process ahead of the high-stakes event in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Scheduled for 15 and 16 November, the convention aims to elect 19 new members to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) — a key step in the Peoples Democratic Party’s ongoing reorganisation.
Meeting in Abuja on Monday under the aegis of the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) Protocol Sub-Committee, the governors emphasised their commitment to ensuring internal democracy is upheld.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, who chairs the sub-committee, assured members that “no stone will be left unturned” in ensuring the process reflects the will of party delegates.
“We are putting in our best and making sacrifices to have a successful convention. Not under our leadership will we let this party down,” Fintiri said.
The PDP National Convention 2025 will be closely watched by political observers, especially amid growing calls for party reform.

Governor Fintiri noted that aspirants would be rigorously screened, but affirmed that all qualified contestants will have equal opportunity to test their popularity at the polls.
He stressed that the process will be open and merit-based: “Everybody who has purchased forms will be screened if they meet the requirements.
It’s not a closed system. Let the most popular candidates win.”
He further urged PDP members to remain calm and trust the process, revealing that the delegate list would be finalised and made public ahead of the convention.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, co-chair of the sub-committee and Protocol lead, echoed this commitment, stating that the event will serve as a “test of the PDP’s organisational strength and long-term viability.”
“Those who started the PDP did not envisage its death under our watch. We owe it to the Nigerian people to keep this platform functional,” Mutfwang said.
He emphasised that proper logistics and coordination will be central to delivering a convention that meets national expectations.
“The essence of this inaugural meeting is for us to know ourselves. Our real job is not in Abuja — it’s in Ibadan,” he added.
