Mohammed Idris defends President Tinubu’s development agenda, saying it is driven by national interest, not party politics. Projects span all 36 states
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister of Information and National Orientation said Tinubu’s administration is delivering transformative projects across all 36 states, regardless of party affiliation.

“I have not seen where there are things to do and the president refused to do because the governor of that state is not in the APC,” Idris stated during a meeting with Information Commissioners from all states.
According to Idris, President Tinubu’s fuel subsidy removal policy has unlocked unprecedented revenues, allowing states to initiate life-changing projects that directly benefit citizens.
“No governor has said we should reverse it,” Idris said, highlighting the broad-based support for the reform.
He noted that before Tinubu took office, 27 states were struggling to pay salaries, and the Federal Government was using 97% of its revenue to service debt.
But under Tinubu’s reforms, fiscal stability has been restored, allowing the government to redirect funds toward infrastructure and social investments.
Idris emphasized that Tinubu’s governance is based on solving real problems that affect everyday Nigerians — not party politics.
“The challenges confronting Nigerians know no political boundaries,” he added, calling on state governments to align with the President’s vision.
He described Nigeria’s current path as a “journey towards enduring prosperity”, urging all stakeholders to “join the train.”
As part of its public feedback drive, the ministry will soon embark on visits to South-South and North-East states to inspect ongoing projects and engage citizens on progress made so far.
He also encouraged commissioners to make use of national platforms like the NOA, NTA, VON, and FRCN to drive public sensitization and community engagement.
Chair of the Commissioners Forum, Prof. Usman Tar (Borno State), echoed Idris’s sentiment, saying the delegation’s purpose is to promote unity, orientation, and national values, not party politics.
“We are here on a national platform,” he said. “Our goal is to support the ministry in its national campaigns for value re-orientation and unity.”
