The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, made the statement at a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday.

He alleged that the by-elections were marred by violence, intimidation, and arrests of opposition members, including some PDP candidates.

“I have bad news for the APC,” Ologunagba said. “What happened in those by-elections, that they call election, will not happen in 2027.

Nigerians are wiser and will vote based on the challenges facing the country.”

The spokesman stressed that the PDP is determined to make a strong statement with its forthcoming elective national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan.

He said the convention would demonstrate the party’s ability to organise itself despite challenges.

According to Ologunagba, the convention committees were formed inclusively, with contributions from state chapters, the Board of Trustees, the Governors’ Forum, and other organs of the party. He said the lists of sub-committees would soon be published.

“We’re determined to show that every organ and member of our party has a sense of belonging because we are truly the People’s Democratic Party,” he added.

Ologunagba dismissed speculation of a parallel convention, saying the PDP’s processes remain guided by its constitution and in sync with INEC, which has been attending preparatory meetings.

“The local organising committee is working, the venue committee is ahead of schedule, and our preparation is methodical. We are ready to stand up, defend democracy, and do the right thing,” he said.
