Paris Talks bring hope for peace and stability as Syria and Israel held discussions in Paris over the Sweida conflict.

The meeting aimed at de-escalation, monitoring ceasefire agreements, and addressing the humanitarian crisis in the region.

Syria’s Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani met with Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and Syria’s intelligence chief in Paris to discuss ways to ease tensions following deadly sectarian violence in the Druze-majority Sweida province last month.

According to Syrian state media, the talks focused on “de-escalation and non-interference in Syria’s internal affairs” and the enforcement of a US-announced ceasefire in Sweida.

Both parties affirmed their commitment to Syria’s territorial unity and rejected any efforts to divide the country.

Violence erupted in mid-July, starting with clashes between Druze fighters and Sunni Bedouin, which quickly escalated, drawing in government forces.

Israel, which has a significant Druze population, said it intervened to protect the minority group and push for the demilitarisation of southern Syria.

These Paris Talks bring hope as part of a US-mediated diplomatic effort to enhance security and stability in Syria and preserve the country’s unity.

The meeting reportedly resulted in understandings that support regional stability and called for reactivating the 1974 disengagement agreement to foster a more stable environment.

Both Syria and Israel also addressed the humanitarian needs of Sweida’s population and the Bedouin community, agreeing to intensify assistance amid ongoing challenges.

This meeting follows a similar gathering held in Paris last month, with other talks occurring in Baku.

US envoy for Syria Thomas Barrack also engaged with Israeli Druze spiritual leader Mowafaq Tarif, aiming to de-escalate tensions and foster cooperation among all parties involved.
