Olagunsoye Oyinlola says the PDP in Osun State endorsed President Tinubu, calling it political chess but confirming his loyalty to APC remains strong

Speaking on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ on Thursday, Oyinlola stated the endorsement was a decision made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, not his personal stance.
He explained, “The endorsement was the decision of the party. Left to me, I have no cause to go back to the APC because I was part of the merger that made the APC. I was the national secretary of the new PDP.”
This remark firmly establishes his continued affiliation with the All Progressives Congress despite the endorsement.
Oyinlola described the endorsement as “political chess,” indicating that it is part of a broader strategy.
When pressed to explain, he declined, suggesting revealing such details would compromise his party’s tactics.
The former governor emphasised that his support for the endorsement does not affect his integrity as a politician.
According to Oyinlola, politics demands pragmatism to achieve desired outcomes.
The endorsement by Governor Adeleke and the PDP leadership in Osun was formally announced in a communique after a stakeholders meeting held at the Government House in Osogbo.
The statement from the PDP reads, “The leaders hereby resolve that the PDP in Osun State recognises the fact that Osun State is the ancestral home of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which makes the President the son of Osun State. Therefore, the PDP in Osun State hereby adopts and endorses President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.”
Oyinlola’s comments underline the complexities within party politics in Osun State while reaffirming his position within the APC.
