The governor gave this assurance during a ceremony at Friday Practising School in Uzuakoli, Bende LGA, where he commissioned a renovated Primary Health Centre and welcomed 50 defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress into the Labour Party.

The renovated Ngwu-Uzuakoli Primary Healthcare Centre was part of the first phase of the “Project Ekwueme” initiative, which is currently upgrading 200 out of the 948 PHCs across Abia’s 17 local government areas.

Governor Otti also commissioned an additional 15 PHCs across the 13 electoral wards of Bende, demonstrating his administration’s resolve to extend quality healthcare to all corners of the state.

“This afternoon, we have gathered to renew our path and celebrate the important milestones we have recorded.

I am glad to report that in the last 10 days, we have commissioned 23 new projects across several local governments—18 roads and 5 Primary Healthcare projects,” Otti told the enthusiastic crowd.

The governor emphasised that every community in Abia is included in his development blueprint, pledging to prioritise the well-being of residents through people-centred governance.

“Our administration has demonstrated that governance is about service, responding promptly to public concerns and applying public funds to nothing other than projects and programmes that uplift the people,” he said.

The event also witnessed a political shift, as Hon. Nnamdi Ibekwe, representing Bende North in the State House of Assembly, officially joined the Labour Party alongside dozens of party stalwarts.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Ibekwe said the move was a declaration of support for Otti’s leadership and a sign of political realignment ahead of 2027.

Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, a former YPP deputy governorship candidate and prominent businessman, was also inducted into the Abia Arise movement.

Describing Otti’s leadership as “historic,” he praised the governor’s transformation agenda and donated two fully serviced coaster buses to the group.

Hon. Luke Ukara Onyeani, Coordinator of Project Ekwueme in Abia North, disclosed that 64 PHCs are being upgraded in the region.

He described the impact as “mind-blowing and organic,” noting that the initiative is setting a new benchmark for public health delivery in the South East.

Other speakers at the event, including Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, Bar. Chijioke Nwankwo, and Mazi Nkem Okoro, commended the governor’s developmental strides and pledged continued support from the people of Bende and beyond.

Governor Otti called on all Abians to rally behind efforts to restore the state’s dignity through responsible governance and warned against vandalising public infrastructure.
