APC Alleges Terrorism Becoming Political Tool Ahead of 2027 Elections

Lagos APC alleges that terrorism and insecurity are being used as a political strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has alleged that terrorism and rising insecurity in parts of Nigeria are increasingly being used as a political strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party raised the concern on Monday through its former state spokesman, Seye Oladejo, in a statement titled “Dateline 2027: When Terrorism Becomes a Political Strategy.”

Oladejo claimed that the resurgence of attacks and insecurity across the country appears to follow a troubling pattern as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 polls.

He warned that dismissing the incidents as coincidence would amount to ignoring historical patterns and current realities.

“As Nigeria gradually moves towards the 2027 general elections, a troubling pattern is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore,” he said.

The APC chieftain alleged that insecurity tends to worsen during politically sensitive periods, suggesting that certain interests may be exploiting existing national challenges for political gain.

He argued that such actors seek to amplify fear, weaken public confidence, and create a sense of national instability for strategic advantage.

“No responsible observer can overlook the timing of the recent escalation in insecurity,” Oladejo stated.

He maintained that while security agencies have recorded successes in combating criminal elements, there are attempts to magnify isolated incidents into broader narratives of national collapse.

According to him, the objective is to undermine institutions and convert national security concerns into political capital.

“The Nigerian people must ask themselves a fundamental question: Who benefits from a climate of fear and instability?” he added.

Oladejo further stressed that insecurity has wide-ranging consequences on citizens, affecting farmers, traders, job seekers, and families who desire peace and stability.
