The assurance was given on Thursday during a meeting between party leaders and governorship aspirant Samuel Ajose in Lagos State, where discussions centred on internal democracy and preparations for the party’s upcoming selection process.

Speaking after the meeting, Lagos APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi stated that the party remains committed to fairness and adherence to established electoral guidelines.

He noted that the Lagos APC governorship primary 2027 would be conducted in line with national directives, either through consensus or direct primaries.

“He is not new to the party. This is a family visit. He came to formally declare his intention and share his vision for Lagos State,” Ojelabi said.

“We assured him that the party would adopt consensus or direct primaries as directed nationally. Every aspirant will enjoy equal opportunity in a transparent and credible process.”

Ojelabi, who spoke alongside South-West Organising Secretary Lateef Ibirogba, emphasised that internal consultations by aspirants across local government areas demonstrate the strength of the party’s grassroots structure.

“Our aspirants consult members across local governments before the primary, and that reflects our strength. The field remains open,” he added.

In his remarks, Samuel Ajose dismissed rumours suggesting he had withdrawn from the race, reaffirming his determination to contest the party’s ticket.

“By God’s grace, I will contest this election. We sought assurances, and the chairman received us warmly beyond expectation,” he said.

Ajose also pledged to accept the outcome of the primary, stressing the importance of party unity and discipline.

“Whatever the party decides, we will abide by it,” he stated.

He further expressed confidence in mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections, projecting strong electoral turnout in Lagos State.
