Speaking during a media chat in Abuja, Yilwatda said there is no provision for automatic tickets in either the APC constitution or Nigeria’s Electoral Act.
He clarified that the APC automatic ticket speculation is inconsistent with established party rules governing candidate selection.
Yilwatda stressed that all aspirants must go through due process, either through consensus or direct primaries as outlined in the Electoral Act.
He reiterated that the party cannot bypass its internal democratic procedures to favour any category of office holders.
According to him, every member of the party will be subjected to the same nomination process without exception.
He added that performance in office would remain a key factor in determining the chances of re-election for incumbent lawmakers.
The APC chairman said party members and delegates will ultimately decide candidates based on merit and public service record.
He maintained that the party remains committed to internal democracy and transparent selection processes ahead of future elections.
