Olawepo Hashim says APC cannot get 20% votes in a free and fair 2027 election, claims Tinubu is aware and opposition is stronger than expected
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Gbenga Olawepo Hashim has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is aware that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would struggle to secure up to 20 per cent of votes if the 2027 general elections are conducted in a free and fair manner.

Olawepo Hashim made the statement during a live interview on Sunday Politics, a Channels Television programme, where he assessed the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
He argued that contrary to claims that the opposition is weak, the ruling party faces deeper internal challenges that could affect its electoral performance.
According to him, if the opposition were truly “dead and buried,” there would be no concern within the ruling party about the next general elections.
He further alleged that President Tinubu, widely regarded as a political strategist, would have analysed internal polling data that suggests the APC may not perform strongly in a truly competitive election environment.
The PDP chieftain also suggested that divisions exist within the APC, adding that some internal actors could undermine the party during the election cycle.
Olawepo Hashim maintained that the opposition, particularly the PDP, has more stability and fewer internal crises compared to the ruling party.
