The controversy involves supporters of Governor Ademola Adeleke, allies of Adegboyega Oyetola and backers of Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress.
The AMBO Media Fronts, speaking for Oyebamiji, dismissed reports suggesting any alliance between President Tinubu and Governor Adeleke, describing such claims as false and misleading.
In a statement by its coordinator, Adebayo Adedeji, the group insisted that the President would not support the re-election of the incumbent governor.
The group also highlighted Oyebamiji’s record in public service, citing his tenure at the National Inland Waterways Authority as evidence of administrative capacity.
It further raised concerns about governance in Osun State, pointing to issues around education funding and project implementation.
However, the Accord Media Centre, aligned with Governor Adeleke, countered the claims, emphasising what it described as the governor’s widespread popularity across key demographics.
The group criticised Adegboyega Oyetola and Oyebamiji, alleging that their actions could embarrass the President and deepen divisions within the APC.
It also accused them of conduct that has weakened party cohesion, claiming internal disagreements and candidate imposition have led to dissatisfaction among party members.
According to the Accord Media Centre, political momentum in the state favours Adeleke, who it said enjoys strong grassroots support among labour groups, artisans, students and farmers.
The group maintained that available assessments indicate the governor remains a formidable contender ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

It urged opposition figures to avoid actions that could portray the President negatively, as political tensions continue to rise in the state.
