Dele Momodu alleges President Bola Tinubu is working to eliminate opposition in Nigeria, urging citizens to unite beyond political parties

African Democratic Congress chieftain and former presidential candidate Dele Momodu has accused President Bola Tinubu of attempting to exterminate political opposition in Nigeria.

In a post on his X page, Momodu argued that Tinubu wields his influence to destabilise opposition parties and suppress rival politicians. “It should be obvious by now that Tinubu does not want any opposition and he will do anything and everything to exterminate and obliterate opposition, if Nigerians do not unite beyond parties to fight back,” he wrote.

Momodu criticised narratives blaming opposition leaders such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi for party disputes, highlighting what he described as Tinubu’s manipulation of political dynamics.

He cited the Peoples Democratic Party’s internal conflicts, Wike’s failed bids for leadership positions, and the scattering of smaller parties as examples of what he termed the president’s “tyrannical” approach.

He urged Nigerians to unite beyond party lines to counter perceived suppression, stressing that the constitution guarantees every citizen the right to pursue their political ambitions legitimately.
