The governor made the remarks while receiving members of the Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives at the Government House in Osogbo during an official visit on Monday.

Addressing the lawmakers, Adeleke described the forthcoming poll as a critical democratic exercise for both Osun State and Nigeria’s broader electoral process.

He stressed that citizens’ votes must be respected to strengthen democratic institutions.

“Credible election is not optional but a compulsory process to safeguard the democratic system,” Adeleke said, noting that the Osun governorship election will attract national and international attention as one of the last major elections before the 2027 general elections.

“For us in Osun State, August 15 is a critical phase for national democratic evolution. Osun is in the eyes of the nation and the world,” he added.

The governor also highlighted ongoing projects across the state, including completion of abandoned initiatives and launching of new ones in sectors such as health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and economic development.

He noted efforts to address inherited financial obligations, including unpaid salaries and pension arrears.

During the visit, Deputy Chairman of the House Public Accounts Committee, Jeremiah Umar, commended Adeleke for visible infrastructural progress.

“When we were coming, we saw flyovers in different places in Osogbo and other towns. Opposite the State Government Secretariat, we also saw a dual carriageway under construction, which shows significant development activities,” Umar said.
