Steve Amuda Calls for Joint Action to Tackle Insecurity in Ondo

Steve Amuda calls for federal and state action to tackle insecurity in Ondo, promising people-centred reforms for his House bid

Hon Steve Amuda, renowned security expert and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ondo State, has declared that the current level of insecurity in the state requires coordinated efforts by both federal and state governments.

Amuda, who recently announced his intention to contest the House of Representatives election for Akoko North East/Akoko North West Federal Constituency, stressed that kidnapping, killings, and other criminal activities can be effectively addressed through collaboration and strategic action.

“I am prepared to join hands with other leaders in the state to fight insecurity,” Amuda said.

“These battles can be won if properly confronted.”

He pledged a people-centred approach to representation, focusing on solutions rather than temporary handouts.

“For too long, our people have endured poor roads, rising unemployment, insecurity, weak healthcare and exclusionary governance. If elected, I will champion transformative reforms to build a safe, prosperous, and inclusive Akoko,” he declared.

Amuda highlighted critical local challenges, including dangerous roads from Ikare to Erusu, Ikaram, Ajowa, and Akunu, which expose residents to kidnapping, youth desperation amid poverty, and overstretched healthcare and educational services.

He outlined an agenda centred on: security and social cohesion; transparent governance; education, healthcare, and social protection; infrastructure, jobs, and local economic growth; and agriculture and rural prosperity.

Currently serving as Regional Coordinator on Peace Building for the Centre for Democracy and Development (West Africa) in North East Nigeria, Amuda emphasised that his political involvement stems from a commitment to broad consultations, problem-solving legislation, and accountable representation.
