Fubara Pledges to Work with All Rivers Assembly Members

Fubara says he’s ready to work with all Rivers Assembly members after recent by-elections

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has declared his readiness to work with all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, including newly elected lawmakers from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor made the statement following the February 21 by-elections into the Assembly. Ukalikpe Napoleon won the Ahoada East State Constituency II seat, while Loolo Bulabari Henrietta secured victory in Khana State Constituency II.

Fubara described their victories as well-deserved, noting that the results reflected the trust and confidence of their constituents.

“It is the beauty of democracy. When the people believe in your capacity, they will give you their votes. I look forward to working with them and their colleagues in the Rivers State House of Assembly for the progress of our state,” he said.

He also commended residents of Ahoada East and Khana constituencies for maintaining peace throughout the electoral process, describing it as a sign of democratic maturity.

The development comes days after the Rivers Assembly suspended impeachment proceedings against Fubara, following months of political tension between the governor and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

The crisis had previously resulted in a six-month state of emergency in Rivers State.
