ADC’s Nwosu condemns assassination attempt on Peter Obi, calling it a threat to Nigeria’s democracy
John Chuma Nwosu, African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate in the November 8, 2025 Anambra State governorship election, has condemned the alleged assassination attempt on former presidential candidate Peter Obi in Edo State, describing it as “disheartening and condemnable.”

Nwosu said the attack represents a serious threat to democratic principles and equates to an assault on all Nigerians who value peace, civility, and the right to participate freely in politics.
He stressed that political differences should never escalate to violence or actions that endanger lives or the nation’s stability.
“Our politics should not include anger, threats, or violent actions. Democracy works best when people share different ideas, talk things through nicely, and treat each other with respect, not by being aggressive or breaking rules,” Nwosu stated.
He called on the relevant security agencies to investigate the incident promptly, hold perpetrators accountable, and restore public trust.

He emphasized the need for Nigeria to move beyond violence and embrace a political culture founded on maturity, tolerance, and respect for democratic values.
