Ezeudu, a known supporter of 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, announced his defection in a letter addressed to the ADC Chairman of Ifitedunu Ward 2, Lawrence Akoba.
A brief ceremony marking the move took place at his residence in Umanugwo village, Ifitedunu, on Sunday.
In an interview with journalists, Ezeudu cited “deepening crisis and poor leadership within the APC at both local government and state levels” as the primary reasons for his decision.
He described the party’s ongoing divisions as a hindrance to its political effectiveness.
“After careful reflection on the activities, crises, divisions and poor leadership of the APC at the local government and the state levels, I have decided to step away from the party to join the ADC and pursue other commitments that align with my personal and political convictions,” Ezeudu said.
The former lawmaker added that the ADC would provide a more suitable platform to serve both his constituency and the wider region, encompassing Anambra, the South-East, and Nigeria at large.
He expressed gratitude for the experiences and opportunities gained during his tenure in the APC.

Political analysts suggest Ezeudu’s defection reflects broader instability within the APC in Anambra State, though experts caution that individual defections may not significantly alter the outcome of the 2027 elections.
