Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni orders intensified security ahead of Eid el-Fitr, including patrols, border monitoring, and vehicle checks
Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has directed security agencies to implement proactive measures to safeguard lives and property during the Eid el-Fitr celebrations.
Represented by his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, the governor ordered enhanced intelligence-led patrols and strengthened cooperation among security formations across the state’s 17 local government areas.

Special attention will be given to border communities to prevent criminal activity during the festive period.
The Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, stated that vehicles without number plates or with covered plates would be banned, citing the practice as a potential security risk.
He described the state as relatively calm but assured residents that all necessary measures are in place for a safe and peaceful Eid.

Authorities continue to monitor vulnerabilities, drawing lessons from recent security breaches in neighbouring states, as part of efforts to ensure a hitch-free festive period.
