Speaker Abbas Tajudeen congratulates Senator Yari and Seyi Tinubu on chieftaincy titles from Alaafin of Oyo, praising their service and unity efforts
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, has extended congratulations to former Zamfara State Governor and current Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdul’Aziz Yari, and Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the conferment of chieftaincy titles by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade.

At a colourful ceremony held at the Alaafin’s palace in Oyo town on Sunday, Senator Yari was installed as the Obaloyin of Yorubaland, while Seyi Tinubu received the title of Okanlomo of Yorubaland.
Speaker Abbas described the honours as “well deserved,” noting that the gesture by Oba Owoade contributes to bridging ethno-religious divides in Nigeria.
He highlighted that the titles recognise exceptional service to humanity and philanthropy, virtues exemplified by both Senator Yari and Seyi Tinubu.
In his remarks, the Speaker encouraged the recipients to continue fostering unity and patriotism among Nigerians, emphasising that their new roles as honorary Yoruba traditional leaders carry added responsibilities.

The ceremony reflects a celebration of service, cultural heritage, and the promotion of national cohesion through traditional institutions.
