The immediate past Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), was on Wednesday received at Aso Rock by President Bola Tinubu
The meeting took place in the company of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede.

Ibas, who ended his six-month tenure as Rivers State administrator on September 17, arrived at the State House at around 6 p.m., escorted by Edun and Olukoyede.
The meeting follows recent calls by the Rivers State House of Assembly to investigate the spending and contracts awarded during Ibas’ emergency administration.
The former administrator had earlier rejected these calls.
Although details of the meeting were not disclosed at the time of filing this report, a source close to the President confirmed that the discussion was related to Ibas’ stewardship during the emergency rule.
Efforts to get comments from Ibas’ media aide, Hector Igbikiowubo, were unsuccessful as he was reportedly unaware of the meeting but promised to provide feedback.
Ibas’ tenure as Rivers State Administrator ended on September 17, following the directive from President Tinubu for the reinstatement of the suspended governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and members of the State House of Assembly.
The Rivers State House of Assembly, under Speaker Martin Amaewhule, convened its first plenary after the emergency rule and resolved to investigate state expenditures during the six-month period.
The Assembly aims to scrutinise the use of funds from the consolidated revenue fund for contract awards and other expenses during the emergency administration.
An analysis by The PUNCH of Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) data revealed that Rivers State received at least N254.37 billion in allocations between March and August 2025 under Ibas’ administration.
This includes N44.66 billion in March, N44.42 billion in April, N42.80 billion in May, and N42.30 billion in June, according to official National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) figures.
Allocations in July and August were approximately N38.42 billion and N41.76 billion respectively, based on FAAC meeting documents reviewed by The PUNCH.
