Top South-East Politician: Uche Ekwunife

Uche Lilian Ekwunife is a dynamic Nigerian politician with a strong presence in the National Assembly.

Born on January 12, 1970, in Igbo-Ukwu, Anambra State, she initially built a career in banking, rising to the position of an area manager before venturing into politics.

Ekwunife served as a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives for the Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia constituency from 2007 to 2015, being one of the few women re-elected in 2011.

She further ascended to the Senate, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District. First elected to the Senate in 2015, her victory was initially challenged.

Undeterred, she successfully secured the senatorial seat again in 2019 under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), demonstrating her resilience and grassroots support.

Known for her active participation, she has been a vocal advocate for her constituents and has held the position of Director-General for the Southeast Governors’ Forum.
