Top South-East Politician: Andy Uba

Emmanuel Nnamdi Uba, widely known as Andy Uba, is a prominent Nigerian politician from Anambra State.

Born on December 14, 1958, he gained significant national recognition as the Senior Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs to President Olusegun Obasanjo, a role he held for seven and a half years.

This position afforded him considerable influence, which he reportedly leveraged to attract federal projects and appointments to the South-East region, particularly Anambra State.

Uba was elected Senator for the Anambra South Senatorial District, serving from 2011 to 2019.

He had previously won the Anambra State gubernatorial election in 2007 under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) banner, though his victory was later nullified by the Supreme Court.

In 2017, he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His career has been marked by both high-profile political roles and controversial legal challenges, reflecting his deep involvement in Nigeria’s political landscape.
