Abdulkadir Bala Mohammed is a seasoned Nigerian politician and administrator currently serving as the Governor of Bauchi State since 2019. Born on October 5, 1958, his extensive career in public service spans journalism, civil service, and legislative roles before reaching the highest executive office in his state.
A graduate of English from the University of Maiduguri, Mohammed began his professional life as a journalist. He transitioned to the civil service, rising through the ranks to become a director. His political journey began in earnest when he was elected Senator for Bauchi South from 2007 to 2010. During this period, he was known for his outspokenness and served on several key committees, including Aviation and Finance.
In 2010, he was appointed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), a position he held until 2015. As FCT Minister, he implemented significant reforms, particularly in land administration and infrastructure development, overseeing projects like the expansion of major access roads and the introduction of the land swap policy. His rich experience across legislative, ministerial, and civil service roles has defined his robust profile in Nigerian politics.
