Yakasai made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, where he dismissed speculation that the president’s support base in the Northwest had weakened.
He described such claims as politically motivated narratives being pushed by opposition figures ahead of the next election cycle.
“For one to say that the political base and the support Mr. President has been having is no more there in the Northwest, I think these are just political negative statements,” he said.
According to him, Tinubu Northern support Yakasai remains strong, adding that the president’s policies and interventions should be recognised by citizens in the region.
He also argued that many of the responsibilities tied to improving citizens’ welfare lie with state and local governments rather than the federal administration alone.
Reacting to concerns about worsening living conditions, Yakasai maintained that the Tinubu administration had taken key steps to strengthen governance and deepen development at the grassroots level.
