Gov Uba Sani Praises Tinubu Over Major Northern Development Gains

Uba Sani praises Tinubu Northern Nigeria development, citing major infrastructure, agriculture and healthcare projects across Kaduna and other northern states

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, speaking in Nigeria on Tuesday, 1 July 2026 during an interview on Arise Television, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the administration has delivered more development projects to Northern Nigeria than any previous government, in what he described as a significant shift in federal attention to the region.

Governor Uba Sani made the remarks while addressing questions on political sentiment in the North ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that claims of declining support for President Tinubu in the region were unfounded.

“I can tell you categorically, no president has done to the North in terms of development as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done in the last three years,” Uba Sani said, adding that his assessment was based on what he described as data and visible project execution.

The governor stated that President Tinubu had “done more for Northern Nigeria than any leader,” citing infrastructure renewal, agricultural interventions and healthcare-related investments as key areas of impact.

Uba Sani also dismissed suggestions that the President’s political support base in the North had weakened, insisting instead that electoral backing would increase in 2027.

“A lot of people have come here and told you the North will not vote for Asiwaju. That is a figment of their imagination,” he said.

He added that, based on ongoing projects and federal engagement in the region, President Tinubu would secure stronger electoral performance in the next general election than he did in 2023.

“I can tell you categorically, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will get more votes in 2027 than what he got,” the governor stated.

Governor Uba Sani highlighted several federal infrastructure projects in Kaduna State as evidence of renewed development focus, including major road and transport initiatives.

He pointed to the Abuja–Kaduna road project, stating that over ₦600 billion had already been released to contractors, with completion expected later in the year.

“As we are speaking, this project will be commissioned by God’s grace in November this year,” he said.

Uba Sani also referenced the Kaduna–Birnin Gwari road, describing it as a long-abandoned corridor now receiving renewed funding, with over ₦178 billion reportedly allocated for its reconstruction after more than two decades of neglect.

He further noted federal approvals for a ₦1 trillion Kaduna light rail project, alongside similar investments in Kano, describing them as transformative infrastructure interventions.

Beyond transport, the governor highlighted agricultural support programmes, including fertiliser distribution and backing for Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones, which he said were strengthening Kaduna’s position as a leading agricultural state.

“Mr President has supported subnationals, including Kaduna State Government, in agriculture,” Uba Sani said, describing farming as central to the state’s economic future.

He also cited additional federal interventions, including the establishment of a Federal University of Science and Technology in southern Kaduna and the conversion of a state hospital into a Federal Medical Centre.

The comments reflect growing political positioning ahead of 2027, with state leaders increasingly linking federal projects to broader narratives of national development and electoral confidence.

Observers say such endorsements are likely to shape political messaging as parties and stakeholders intensify early campaigns and regional outreach strategies ahead of the next general elections.
