President Tinubu meets APC leaders in Abuja to coordinate preparations and strengthen party strategy ahead of convention and congresses
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday convened a meeting with key stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to review preparations for the party’s forthcoming convention and congresses.

The engagement brought together members of APC’s national leadership, governors, and the party’s caucus in the National Assembly.
Those present included Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; House of Representatives Majority Leader, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere; Chief Whip, Usman Bello Kumo; President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; and APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru.
APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, described the meeting as brief but productive, focusing on aligning party preparations and ensuring cohesion among all arms of government.
It was a brief meeting to review our preparations for the convention and congresses and to strengthen synergy between all arms of government.
We want everyone the national, sub-national, and the National Assembly to be on the same page, and I believe we achieved our objectives, Yilwatda said.
The discussions emphasised strengthening coordination between the national leadership, state governments, the National Assembly, and the party’s organisational structure ahead of the convention.
Yilwatda highlighted the APC’s rapid expansion, noting the influx of new members, governors, and lawmakers, and stressed the importance of inclusivity.
“The party is expanding every day. We are growing beyond bounds, and we want to ensure that in the course of this growth, nobody is left behind,” he said.
Yilwatda also lauded President Tinubu’s guidance, describing him as a highly experienced politician whose strategic advice continues to drive the party’s growth.

“Mr President is a very experienced politician. His advice was remarkable, and his depth of knowledge of the political cycle continues to drive the expansion and strength of the party,” he added.
