Analyst Jega warns Tinubu’s involvement in Rivers political clash may worsen rather than resolve it
Political analyst Mahmud Jega has cautioned that President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the political dispute between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike may worsen the crisis rather than resolve it.

Speaking on Arise Television, Jega noted that recognizing Wike as the “undisputed political leader in Rivers” contradicts APC’s constitution, which designates governors as the party leaders in their respective states.
He highlighted that Wike is not even an APC member, yet Tinubu’s supposed endorsement may allow Wike to continue influencing both APC and PDP politics in Rivers State.

Jega stated: “This does not look like an attempt to solve the problem. Instead, it hands over the knife to Minister Wike to continue his role in Rivers politics across both parties, which is unprecedented in Nigeria’s political history.”
