National Councillors Forum of Nigeria pledges full support for Tinubu 2027, promising grassroots mobilisation and advocacy nationwide
The National Councillors Forum of Nigeria has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made on Wednesday during a press briefing in Abuja by Dr Evoh Ugochukwu, President of the forum, speaking on behalf of serving and former local government councillors.
Dr Ugochukwu cited the Tinubu administration’s restoration of local government autonomy, expanded social investment programmes, rural development initiatives, and strategic economic reforms as key reasons for supporting a second term.
“Under this administration, policies once seen as promises have become tangible realities transforming lives in communities nationwide,” Dr Ugochukwu said, highlighting the government’s efforts in national security, infrastructure, and agriculture.
The forum represents 8,809 councillors across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas and the Federal Capital Territory.
The declaration emphasised grassroots mobilisation, with councillors pledging to engage ward leaders, coordinators, and millions of grassroots supporters in preparation for the 2027 elections.
The statement, jointly signed by Hyacinth Horvel Turnoe, National Coordinator of ST/HT Grassroots Coordinators of Development, and Chief Okorie Ikechukwu Raphael, National Coordinator of the Citizens Network for Peace and Development, called for a nationwide movement to inform voters and strengthen civic participation.

Dr Ugochukwu concluded that Tinubu has demonstrated courage, competence, and commitment, and that the councillors’ endorsement reflects widespread confidence in his leadership.
