Nyesom Wike says elections are won through achievements, not street drama, urging Nigerians to focus on performance and tangible results
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has emphasised that elections are won through performance, not public stunts, during his visit to Edo State.

Speaking at the handover of 54 construction equipment to the state’s 18 local government areas, Wike cautioned Nigerians about so-called “emergency democrats” who attempt to win sympathy through superficial displays.
“Let me say this clearly, winning an election is not by dancing. It is not by buying corn on the road,” Wike said.
“Winning an election is to show the people what you have done and the foundation you have laid.”
He criticised politicians who, in his view, stage public acts to portray themselves as close to the people despite a lack of prior engagement.
“Something you have never done since you were born, simply because you want to deceive the people to say you are one of the people,” he added.
Wike praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for its developmental focus in the FCT.
“Mr President is busy developing the FCT. That is performance. That is what people should look at,” he said.
He further noted that, as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he would not dispute the presidential election outcome, citing Tinubu’s tangible achievements.

“As a PDP holder, I will not challenge the result because I know what Mr President has done in the FCT,” Wike stated.
