Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas joins APC, but the formal reception is postponed to January to respect ongoing national security concerns
Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has officially joined the All Progressives Congress, though the party has deferred his formal reception until January.

The decision was announced by Taraba APC Chairman Ibrahim El-Suldi on Sunday, who confirmed that Governor Kefas had completed all ward-level requirements for party membership.
The formal reception, initially scheduled for 19 November 2025, was postponed due to the recent kidnapping of schoolgirls in Kebbi State, an incident the governor described as a national security tragedy.
El-Suldi explained that December’s packed schedule, combined with year-end holiday preparations, made it unsuitable to hold a major political event.
“December is already jam-packed with activities. We don’t want to drag people across the state when families are preparing for Christmas and New Year,” he said.
The party chairman added that 15 members of the Taraba State House of Assembly, along with the entire state executive council, have already joined the ruling party, reflecting a broader realignment around the governor.
“Key stakeholders around the governor have joined him, and more are coming. There is absolutely no cause for alarm,” El-Suldi stated.
He confirmed that party leadership had agreed on January as a more suitable period for the formal reception and assured that the date would be communicated publicly once finalised.
