Sokoto APC Dismisses ADC as Threat Ahead of 2027 Elections

Sokoto APC dismisses ADC as a recycled coalition, claiming the opposition lacks power to challenge the ruling party ahead of 2027 elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State has described the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a recycled political coalition incapable of challenging the party’s dominance in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party’s position was articulated on Thursday, February 5, 2026, by APC Chairman Isah Sadik Achida during an all-inclusive stakeholders’ meeting in Tambuwal Local Government Area, organised by the Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto Youths Contact, Mobilisation and Enlightenment Ambassadors.

Achida said individuals regrouping under the ADC were familiar political figures who had failed to deliver meaningful results in the past, describing them as actors who had exhausted their political relevance.

He maintained that the APC remained united and resilient, emphasising that no rebranded opposition alliance could undermine its growing support base.

“We all know them. They failed to deliver after eight years. They have nothing new to present but rather to further destroy the state,” Achida said, adding that Sokoto residents were best placed to judge the parties’ contributions.

The chairman praised Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, asserting that the current administration had achieved unprecedented progress in local governance compared with his predecessor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, particularly in Tambuwal Local Government.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Aminu Dikko Tambuwal, speaking also on behalf of Alhaji Umaru Nagwari Tambuwal, highlighted the inclusive leadership of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, describing him as a unifying force whose strategic guidance contributed to the governor’s resilient administration.

Tambuwal commended the APC’s youth and women wings for their dedication, noting that their unity and perseverance were critical to the party’s local success.

He also cited empowerment and development initiatives that have enabled residents to become self-reliant through various trades.
